J. Carver Distillery will open for tours and tastings effective June 6.
The Waconia-based distillery was founded in 2013. Since that time, they have released two vodka and three gin products. According to a press release, the business has also expanded its production to include bourbon, rye and wheat whiskey along with other small batch specialty spirits.
Public tours will begin on Saturday, June 6 and run hourly from noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and can be booked in advance at jcarverdistillery.com. Tours will expand to include Friday afternoons beginning in July.
According to the release, during the tour, distillery staff will explain the difference between distilling white spirits like vodka and gin, and brown spirits like whiskey and rye. Guests will go step-by-step through the process to understand the artisanal, small batch distillation process, and the nuances of tasting spirits made with local grain and fruits. A sampling of spirits or a tasting cocktail is included in the tour, and specialty cocktails will be available for purchase.
“We look forward to making the J. Carver Distillery tour a complete experience, from showcasing the art and science behind the distillation process to the intriguing aging process of our dark spirits in our onsite barrel room,” stated Lead Distiller Matt Miller.
